The images in this series aim to pay homage to our mythic past. As modern totems, they serve as a gateway to reconnect the individual to certain aspects of universal folklore, both mythical and archetypal. While assuming their traditional roles to protect, instruct, or to mitigate transitions, these classic archetypes have also been created to depict their nascent states. With their fissures and bodily abstractions, the images seem to lay at the edge of a universal collective, waiting to reemerge with new faces in different cultures.
While suggesting a timeless symbolism in each of the subjects, the paintings also connect us to these living creatures in a deeper, more fundamental context.
